Went to a special screening of Hairspray tonight at the Writers Guild of America and it was so much fun. You know how you just get the perfect audience together and everyone laughs in all the right places and you can tell people are having fun? Well, that’s what it was like tonight. In fact, throughout the movie, after every song, the audience would applaud, as if the people on screen could hear our clapping!
Afterwards a bunch of the cast members came out onto the stage to do what is called a Q & A (Question and Answer!) with the audience. The funny thing is that a bunch of people (myself included!) were expecting to see Zac on stage, but he was a no show! You could almost hear the audience groan! I think a couple of girls actually got up and left the theatre at that point.
Who was there!? Well, let me tell you, it was really a great event. Adam Shankman the director was there and he had tons of fun facts and stories that he threw in. Then there was Danny Zuko himself, John Travolta, Elijah Wood, Brittany Snow and Amanda Bynes.
Travolta said he was thrilled to be doing a real movie musical again ater so many years, 30 to be exact. He missed all the singing and dancing I guess. It’s hard to believe that a movie like Grease was made that long ago! So my question to all of you is, how many of you have actually seen the movie Grease?

The KEWL team was out late this summer in the heat for a cool back-to-school event! It was a benefit for Operation Smile put on by Teen Hollywood. There were a lot of fun performances like Small Change as well as tons of celebs on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with fans, like Zachary and Oren Williams and Tyler Neitzel!

KEWL helped sponsor the event and brought out tons of mags to share with everyone! Sammi Hanratty of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody grabbed one as well as the Disney Surfer himself, Michael Petersen.

We met Kay Panabaker who told us that she is starting her last senior year at UCLA this fall and will graduate in the spring. Oh, and she’s only 17 years old! Even if she wasn’t working full time, that would be amazing but when you think about all of the projects she’s done over the past few years, like Hannah Montana, Nancy Drew, Phil of the Future, Read It and Weep, and of course Summerland, it’s really hard to imagine the kind of intensity and focus this girl must have for in her life. She’s really amazing and doesn’t look a day over 14!

The adorable Rosso Twins, Becky and Milly were signing autographs and having a good ol’ time. Their new movie, Legally Blondes will be coming to video next year. The girls star in this fun comedy and will surely be the beginning of a long career of starring roles for them. They’ve already appeared in 6 episodes of The Suite Life and have even admitted to thinking that the Sprouse Twins are cute! And Vincent Martella of Everybody Hates Chris was there looking sporty.

Teen Hollywood focuses on finding new talent and helping those who are interested figure it all out! There was a panel discussion with a bunch of kids and they all talked about their experience with show biz and how long it took them to break into the industry. It’s definitely not easy and requires a firm belief in yourself. You can take all the lessons in the world but without confidence, it’s a long and difficult road to success.
We’re curious how many of you out there are interested in pursuing careers in acting and what are you doing to make that happen? Are you taking any lessons of any kind? Practicing acting skills at school? Singing in the school choir? Watching a lot of TV to study someone else? We want to know!

Hey everyone. Welcome to my first blog! It’s really early in the morning and I’m already hard at work to bring you our Sept issue. It’s quite a challenge since we’re moving up from 48 pages to 72 pages this issue but it’s so worth it. We’ve got more of eveything for you and quite honestly, I’m loving this next issue!
Okay, so we were going to keep it a BIG secret until we went to press but I’m dying to talk about the featured celeb on our next KEWL Cover. See, we don’t just put ANYONE on our cover. They have to be DOING something special at the time the magazine comes out. And since we only feature ONE person as our main celeb, choosing the right person is really important to us.
So who is it? Well, a lot of you already know him, in fact your walls might even be plastered with pictures of him. Others of you may have heard his name or seen his picture but he’s not exactly a household name for you… YET. Well we’re guessing before too long, everyone will know exactly who he is. Ready? It’s Ryan Sheckler, pro skateboarding champ. He’s 17 years old and his new MTV show The Life of Ryan an debuted on Monday night at 10:30pm.
If you missed it, you seriously need to tune in next Monday night. So it’s on a bit late, but you can either record it OR if you check out the website, you can watch the first episode. It’s really good! Ryan is amazingly cute and really down to earth. Oh, and tell your parents that it’s totally PG. I wasn’t sure it would be since it’s a reality TV show and all but they kept it clean. And I’m just telling you now… If you watch this show, you might just end up having the biggest crush on Ryan. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
So I’m curious if anyone else caught “The Life of Ryan” premiere. If so, I’d love to hear your comments about Ryan and what you thought of the show!
Bye for now!
Denise
